Sean Maltbie
Director of Mission & Outreach
To help accelerate the Renewal, Sean identifies partner schools and organizations that align with the mission. Prior to coming about SJHNI, he walked away from a flourishing legal career to become the first headmaster of Sacred Heart Academy in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
From 2014 to 2023, he led the school’s renewal project from a nadir of 69 students to nearly 400. Today, Sean serves as its first president, guiding the Academy into its second decade of renewal.
Earlier in his career, Sean served in the U.S. Air Force and Michigan Air National Guard for 30 years, retiring as a colonel in 2022. He also worked in private practice in Grand Rapids and later as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Michigan.
Sean is married with two adult children and has served on numerous professional and community boards.
